National Fruit Cocktail Day: May 13th

We don’t know about you, but we will definitely be celebrating National Fruit Cocktail Day this May 13th. Before you ask, no – we are not talking about the can of a variety of fruits that we ate with our lunch as children. We are talking about a REAL fruit cocktail. Take a look at some of these delicious fruit cocktail recipes that you can sip on outside on a warm summer’s day while your children enjoy the fruit cocktail in a can. Twinsies, right?!

1. “Fruit Cocktail” Punch

This is a delicious and easy recipe that uses a combination of many fruit flavors, so it is ultimately up to you to decide which fruits you want to garnish your glass with. Your ingredients will be 4 cups of fruit punch (brand and contents of your choice), half a cup of vodka, half a cup of rum, and 1 cup of pineapple juice. Mix all of your ingredients, and pour it over ice. This recipe will yield about 8 servings, so invite your friends over for a backyard party!

2. Spiked Watermelon Slushy

Your ingredients for this delectable frozen drink will be 4 cups of diced/cubed watermelon, half a cup of sugar, one-fourth of a cup of hot water, and a bottle of your favorite rosé wine. First mix the sugar and hot water until the sugar is completely dissolved, then add the bottle of wine to the mixture. Pour the wine and sugar mixture into an ice cube tray, and set it in the freezer until it is completely frozen. Once frozen, blend together the frozen cubes and the watermelon cubes until smooth. This will make about 4 servings. Enjoy!

3. Cranberry Orange Cocktail

We love the flavor combo of cranberry and orange, and we think you will too. For this yummy drink, you will need 3 ounces of vodka, 6 ounces of cranberry juice, and 2 ounces of orange juice. Mix the ingredients, and pour the mixture over ice. It’s really that simple! This will make 2 servings, so enjoy it with a friend or a date.

Any of these three recipes will be sure to make your day better; or for some of us quarantined with children, bearable. Stop by Old Tennessee Distilling Company next time you are passing through to get stocked up on some of your ingredients you will need to make these delicious drinks. We look forward to seeing you and serving you. Happy National Fruit Cocktail Day!
