The Perfect Recipe to Celebrate Mango Day

While Mango Day may not be on your typical calendar, it comes every year on July 22nd to remind us of this sweet fruit and all of the great recipes that go along with it! While this may be the first time you’ve heard of this special holiday, this tropical fruit has been a part of delicious cuisine for over 5,000 years. Check out the history of mango day and how you can celebrate with a special cocktail dedicated to everyone’s favorite fruit.

The History of Mango Day

First developed in South Asia over 5,000 years ago, mangoes quickly made their way across

Southeast Asia and East Africa and became an incredibly popular fruit. Mangoes are grown in tropical environments which made them easy to cultivate in hot and humid environments. The mango eventually became so popular that it was declared the national fruit of India, Pakistan, and the Philippines. The mango is still celebrated to this day with a major international festival in Delhi dedicated to the sweet fruit. While the exact origins of Mango Day are unknown, it is likely related to the harvesting season of mangoes which falls during the summer months. So what is the best way to celebrate the storied tradition of Mango Day? With a drink, of course!

Mango Tea Recipe

Now that we’ve had a brief lesson about the history of mangoes, let’s celebrate with a perfectly themed drink. Our Mango Tea drink is a perfect blend of tropical flavors fused with a good ol’ dose of sweet southern tea. While you never need an excuse to enjoy a quality drink, invite your friends and family over to enjoy some grilled mango and sip on a summer drink in honor of Mango Day.

How to Make Mango Tea

  1. Start with a tall glass of ice and cocktail shaker.
  2. In the tall glass, add 2 oz. of Dumplin Creek Toasted Mango Moonshine.
  3. Top the moonshine with 4 oz. of sweet (or unsweet) tea.
  4. Shake just enough to combine and chill the ingredients.
  5. Pour into your fanciest glass and top with a fresh slice of mango.
  6. Enjoy your new favorite drink!
