The Best Watermelon Moonshine Cocktail Recipe For Summer

As the days get longer and warmer, we can start looking forward to picnics, long bike rides, and cool, refreshing cocktails. And nothing says “Summer” like watermelon – frozen, blended, sliced, whichever way you prefer it, it’s the fruit of the season. And we like our watermelon spiked with moonshine to add some crazy to hazy summer days.

Dating back 5000 years to Africa, watermelons have a long history; watermelon seeds have even been found in Ancient Egyptian tombs. The fruit is speculated to have arrived in America in the 16th century and is known to have been grown by Thomas Jefferson himself. It has since enjoyed massive popularity thanks to its sweet juicy flavor, attractive pink flesh, and high nutritional value

While low in calories, the fruit is high in potassium and vitamins A and C, so if you want to increase the nutritional value of your next cocktail, consider adding a few watermelon balls to your glass! Local watermelons typically ripen from June through to September; you can visit watermelon festivals throughout Tennessee in the summer months. But if you don’t want to wait, our watermelon moonshine needs no ripening!

Old Tennessee Distilling Co.’s Watermelon Falls moonshine combines hand-crafted moonshine and watermelon – summer captured in a glass. At 60 Proof, this “Platinum” award winner at the SIP awards will start your party in style. And, we’ve got the ideal recipe for your next cookout, pool party, or just a wind-down after a long week: the Watermelon Moonshine Magharita recipe, which packs a lot of flavors using just four ingredients.

Watermelon Margarita Recipe

Watermelon Margarita recipe card

  • 3 oz. Dumplin Creek Watermelon Falls Moonshine
  • 2 oz. lime juice
  • 1 oz. simple syrup
  • 0.25 oz. triple sec

Combine all the ingredients in a mixer and pour over either crushed ice or cubes of ice, depending on your preference. Impress your guests even more, refrigerate the glasses beforehand, serve the cocktail with salt on the rim of the glass, and add a couple of watermelon balls for decoration (and for the vitamins!).

Pour yourself a cold glass of Watermelon Moonshine Margarita, hit play on Lainey Wilson’s hit song “Watermelon Moonshine,” and be transported into an idyllic summer.
