It’s Dolly Parton’s Birthday, and We’re Celebrating!
It’s a new year, and we thought, what better way to celebrate than to say Happy Birthday to Sevier County’s homegrown legend, Dolly Parton!
Born in Sevierville, TN, on the 19th of January 1946, Dolly Parton was the fourth of 12 children. She grew up and went to school in the area, playing music and performing from a young age. After graduating high school and achieving massive success, Dolly made sure to give back to her community.
Dolly has created businesses and jobs throughout the area and contributed massively to improving local services and hospitals. With a long-standing passion for literary initiatives, Dolly has donated funds and provided books to children throughout their schooling. Her Imagination Library has ensured that one in ten children under the age of five in the US receive free Imagination Library books. The organization spans five countries and has distributed nearly two million books to children to date.
You can learn more about Dolly Parton throughout the Great Smoky Mountains, especially at Dollywood, the family theme park in Pigeon Forge, TN. Check out the Dolly Parton statue in Downtown Sevierville, or enjoy a thrilling dinner show and four-course family feast at Dolly Parton’s Stampede in Pigeon Forge.
With all these achievements, it’s easy to see why we have chosen to celebrate Dolly Parton as we enter a new year. The Dolly is made using Old Tennessee Distilling’s finest Tail of the Dragon Tequila and inspired by the homegrown musician, entrepreneur, and philanthropist extraordinaire.
The Dolly
- 6 oz. lemonade
- 2 oz. Tail of the Dragon Tequila
- Lemon or lime and bruised mint
Place the mint over ice blocks in a large tumbler or mug. Pour the tequila over the ice, followed by the lemonade. Stir to combine, and add the citrus for garnish. If you want to mix things up, replace the mint leaves with a couple of rosemary sprigs, or really grab the dragon by the tail and throw in a couple of thin slices of deseeded red jalapeno.
While you’re celebrating all things Dolly in the area, why not stop by and join us for a free tasting? Or, sit back and relax with one of our $5 cocktails. We’re just down the road in Kodak, TN, and we’re open seven days a week.
