Hot Cocktails are In Season
There is almost nothing better than relaxing by a warm fire around the holidays. The only way we see to make it better is with a nice, hot cocktail to help keep you warm, both inside and out. Here are some of our personal favorite hot cocktail recipes for you to enjoy this holiday season. Which one’s your favorite?
Hot Toddy
For a classic hot toddy, place ¾ of a cup of hot water into a mug, add 1.5 ounces of your favorite whiskey (like our Butcher’s Bourbon or Thunder Road Bourbon), 2 teaspoons of honey, and 2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Stir and garnish with your favorite flavors like lemon wedges, cinnamon sticks, or whole cloves.
Hot Buttered Rum
In a mixing bowl, combine 1 stick of butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, ½ cup of light brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Create a spice mix of 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of ground cloves, 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, and 1 teaspoon of ground allspice and add it to your mixing bowl. Beat until well combined.
In a heat-proof glass or mug, combine 2 ounces of dark or aged rum (try our Barrel-Aged Renegade Rum) with 1 ounce (or 2 tablespoons) of the spiced butter mixture. (The rest of the batter can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for later use.) Top with 6 ounces of hot water and stir until ingredients are well incorporated.
Spiked Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
Mix one ounce of our Salted Caramelicious Moonshine with a mug of your favorite hot chocolate. We love ours with 2 scoops of rich, dark chocolate mix, a dash of vanilla extract, about 6 ounces of milk, and topped with a pinch of sea salt.
What are your favorite holiday hot cocktails? We’d love to hear about them. Our spirits also make great gifts this holiday season, so stop by our tasting room and get the best gifts for all the special people in your life.
