A Rum Kind of Summer
This summer’s drink theme is ‘all things RUM’ because we all wish we were sitting on the beach sipping a pina colada in the midst of this pandemic, right? Did you know that in addition to our wide variety of home-distilled moonshine we also sell five premium rums? We have the classic Thunder Road Renegade Rum, Barrel-Aged Renegade Rum, and Coconut Flavored Rum. We also carry the smooth and delicious Cal F. Johnson Black Mountain Rum, original and spiced. Once you decide which summer drink recipe you are going to try first, then you can decide which of these five rums will best suit your taste buds.
The Classic Daiquiri
Don’t want to get the blender out? No worries. The daiquiri in its classic form is actually served as just a chilled drink. No ice, no whipped cream, nothing! All the ingredients required to achieve this classic and delicious drink are 1 and a half ounces of rum, ¾ ounces of lime juice, and ¼ ounce of simple syrup. Mix these ingredients in a shaker with ice, and strain into your glass. Garnish with a lime peel. If you love the fruity add-ins like you get in the frozen version, just add the fruit concentrate of your favorite flavor to the mix before shaking!
Mojito
Ah, the classic “on the rocks” go-to. Who couldn’t possibly enjoy a divine mojito on a warm sunny day? Muddle a few mint leaves with an ounce of lime juice and two teaspoons of sugar in your drinking glass. Then, pour one and a half ounces of rum and about half a cup of cold soda water to the glass. Top with ice, and enjoy!
Painkiller
We could all use one of these a time or two this summer. Mix the following ingredients in a shaker with ice: an ounce of orange juice, an ounce of cream of coconut, four ounces of pineapple juice, and two ounces of rum. Pour into a glass with fresh ice, and top with nutmeg for an extra complement of flavor.
Pina Colada
One of the most classic and most popularly enjoyed drinks around the world – the pina colada. Doesn’t the name just make you wish you were by the ocean? We’re going to share with you the simplest recipe for a delicious pina colada. Blend together one and a half cups of frozen pineapple chunks, one and a half ounces of rum, and ⅓ cup of coconut milk. That’s it!
