Our Favorite St. Patrick’s Day Drinks
Everyone’s favorite party holiday is nearly here! In this blog, we’ll go through our favorite green drinks that are much more exciting than adding green food coloring to watered-down beer. Enjoy!
Irish Coffee
We all know you can’t drink all day if you don’t start early. So our favorite way to start St. Patrick’s Day is with an Irish coffee or two. Instead of Bailey’s, we opt for both whiskey and cream liqueur. We advise saving this recipe for the weekend or ensuring you check with your boss that you don’t have any important tasks for the day. Our Irish coffee contains one cup of black coffee, two oz. of butterscotch cream liqueur, and one oz. of our Butcher’s bourbon whiskey. Mix all together and enjoy.
Grasshopper
Our version is richer than the traditional one but still screams green. Instead of creme de cacao, substitute our Dumplin Creek Chocolate Merriment for a mintier (and tastier) spin on the classic. You’ll combine equal parts creme de menthe, Chocolate Merriment, and half and half or heavy whipping cream. Simply combine all ingredients, mix in a shaker, and pour into a glass. You can top it with chocolate or green sprinkles for a more festive feel.
Margarita
You can never go wrong with a margarita. To give it an Irish twist, we recommend adding 1 to 2 oz of Irish whiskey to your favorite margarita recipe. If you need a new one, we use 3 oz of our Tail of the Dragon tequila, 1 oz. blue curacao, 2 oz. peach schnapps, 1 oz Aperol, 2 oz. sour mix, and lime juice and salt to finish – both in the glass and on the rim!
Vodka-Infused Jolly Ranchers
Since it’s St. Patrick’s Day, you’ll only want the sour apple (green) flavors. This recipe is as easy as it is good. You’ll dump your unwrapped Jolly Ranchers into two cups of our Tuckaleechee vodka and let this sit for 12 – 24 hours. Once infused, you can eat your Jolly Ranchers as usual because who doesn’t love booze-filled candy?! We suggest using the leftover vodka to create a few cocktails. All you’ll need is a dash or two of Sprite to complement the now sour apple-flavored vodka, and voila, you have a sweet and sour martini. Garnish with olives or green apples for added flavor and depth.
If there’s any day to drink from dawn to dusk and beyond, it’s St. Patrick’s Day. We hope these recipes add a little extra flavor to your day. If you need to stock up beforehand, visit our Kodak, TN distillery. We can also whip up a St. Paddy’s Day drink of your choice for just $5.
