Five Delicious Gin Cocktails That Aren’t a G&T

The next time you grab the bottle of gin for cocktail hour, don’t head straight to the tonic to mix the classic gin and tonic. Gin is a versatile spirit that works well in many drinks, concoctions, and party settings. Its popularity has lasted for centuries for a reason, and it deserves to be taken for a spin in a vehicle other than a G&T. So, consider gin cocktails that aren’t gin and tonic; you’ll find plenty of inspiration in our list.

Moonshine Bramble

A riff on the Bramble cocktail, which was created in London, UK, in the 1980s, this cocktail requires only a few ingredients and is ready in a couple of minutes. Light, refreshing, and bursting with Summer notes, it’s perfect for a backyard party. Consider making a larger batch so your guests can grab a top-up as needed (trust us, your punch bowl will be emptied very quickly).

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Old Tennessee Dumplin Creek Gin
  • 1 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tsp simple syrup
  • ½ oz. Old Tennessee Blackberry Bramble Moonshine

Combine the gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a shake and combine. Pour into a tumbler over crushed ice and top with the Blackberry Bramble Moonshine. Garnish with a slice of lemon and some fresh blackberries.

Old Tennessee Sling

The Singapore Sling is a well-known cocktail created in the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. The Old Tennessee Sling is our take on the classic, edgy, modern, and bold. This drink embodies the wild Tennessee spirit, and while it uses a few more ingredients, in this case, it’s the more, the merrier!

Ingredients:

  • ¾ oz. Old Tennessee Dumplin Creek Gin
  • ¼ oz. Benedictine
  • ¼ oz. Grand Marnier
  • ¼ oz. cherry liqueur
  • 1 oz. pineapple juice
  • ½ oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • A dash of bitters
  • Club soda

Add all the ingredients except the club soda to a shaker to combine. Pour into a tall glass over ice and top up with club soda. Add an orange slice and one of our Butcher’s Bourbon Cherries as a garnish.

Tennessee Gin Fizz

Don’t let the simple ingredients fool you; the Moonshine Gin Fizz packs a punch. This gin cocktail is a real summer winner; citrus notes, plenty of bubbles, and generous spirits make it a refreshing party starter.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Old Tennessee Dumplin Creek Gin
  • 1 oz. Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ¾ oz. simple syrup
  • Club soda

Combine the gin, simple syrup, and lemon juice in a shaker. Add about four ice blocks to the shaker and shake vigorously until the outside of the container is cold to the touch. Strain into a chilled glass with more ice and top up with club soda. Add a lemon slice as a garnish.

Summer Gin Martini

Class it up with our gin martini. While there’s nothing wrong with the original, we like to give our cocktails a bit of an Old Tennessee Distilling Company spin. This is a hard-hitting cocktail tailored to those who like their spirits straight. But the versatility of a gin martini also means you can add your own flair, garnishes, and finishing touches to suit your mood.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ oz. Old Tennessee Dumplin Creek Gin
  • ½ oz. dry vermouth
  • A dash of orange bitters

Combine the ingredients in a glass with ice and stir until cold. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a curl of orange peel and an Old Tennessee Moonshine Orange slice.

The Clover Club

This cocktail pre-dates the Prohibition and started life on the drinks menus at gentleman’s clubs. These days, the Clover Club has fans across the country, and while it may seem like a complicated drink to mix, we’ve made a simpler version to make your bartending duties that little bit easier.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Old Tennessee Dumplin Creek Gin
  • ½ oz. lemon juice
  • ½ oz. raspberry syrup

Combine the ingredients in a shaker before pouring into a tumbler over crushed ice. Garnish with a Tennessee Frost Moonshine Cherry.
