Celebrate National Mason Jar Day with Your Favorite Moonshine Distillers
What do pickles on your burger, peaches in syrup at a summer picnic, nails in your toolkit, and your favorite moonshine all have in common? They are all stored in Mason Jars. So, in honor of National Mason Jar Day on November 30th, let’s demonstrate the endless uses of this great American innovation.
Named after its inventor, American tinsmith John Landis Mason, the Mason Jar has been at the forefront of household convenience since it was first created in 1858. The filed patent for the world’s first airtight and reusable glass jar revolutionized food manufacturing and storage. When food preservation was a significant issue, Mason’s sealing system allowed food to be preserved safely, reducing the chances of contamination.
Fast forward to today, and Mason Jars are everywhere. From wedding decorations to dive bar glassware, or used as pantry or tool shed organizers, rarely has one product been suited to so many purposes.
Here at the Old Tennessee Distilling Co., we follow the traditional preserving spirits of our ancestors with our special moonshine fruit range. Summer lasts all year round with Summer Strawberry Moonshine Pineapples, or zest it up a bit and enjoy the Mandarin Orange. If you’re feeling a little bit naughty AND nice, the Tennessee Frost Moonshine Cherries are for you. Soaked in our 100-proof Tennessee Frost moonshine, these bursts of flavor certainly pack a punch.
Our award-winning moonshine is also at home in the Mason Jar, but if you feel like making a jar cocktail of your own, give our recipe for a good Old Fashioned a go. It’ll allow you to take our wild Moonshine cherries out for a spin!
Old Fashioned Recipe:
- 2 oz. Old Tennessee Distilling Co. Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- 1 tsp of simple syrup
- 1-2 dashes of bitters
- 1 orange slice
- 1 Old Tennessee Distilling Co.’s Moonshine Cherry
- 1 large block of ice
Add the syrup and the bitters to your Mason Jar and stir. Put the block of ice in the jar and pour the bourbon on top. Garnish with the orange slice and cherry. Enjoy!
